Over 30 members of the University of Delaware ACHA DI and DII men's hockey teams participatied in the 4th Annual CureSearch Cancer Walk to benefit Childhood Cancer research this past Saturday, Sept. 24th at the Wilmington Riverfront.
UD Hockey walked in support of "Team Brett". Brett Land, age 2, was diagnosed with Pre-T-Cell Leukemia in December of 2010, and since then has undergone chemotherapy, a bone marrow transplant, and full radiation to combat this disease. Brett is currently in remission from this disease but continues weekly treatments and monitoring.
The Land family has a unique connection to UD Hockey as Brett's father, Jason, works as a school teacher alongside Assistant Coach Jesse McNulty at William Penn High School in New Castle, Delaware.
