Hurricane Sandy |
Posted By: Mid-Atlantic |
Monday, October 29, 2012 |
Updated 11/3 - Hurricane Sandy made significant damage in the mid atlantic states including major devastations along the Jersey shore, parts of north Jersey, Staten Island, New York, Long Island and parts of Connecticut. Many people lost their homes and many more are still without power. As cleanup continues, the storm has affected some games that were planned in these areas. All Monmouth games have been canceled this weekend. There are no other Mid-Atlantic cancelations but check with the team before you travel. Remember if you are going to be traveling around/through CT/NY/NJ this weekend, expect gasoline to be scarce, long lines at the pumps and possible restrictions on quantities permitted to be purchase.
---
As hurricane Sandy approaches the northeast corridor, the Mid-Atlantic wants to make sure everyone keeps safe. As most schools in the region are closed, as of this moment there are no planned cancellations of games this upcoming weekend. Once the storm passes through, all schools and Mid-Atlantic will evaluate any damages and will communicate any details if necessary. We will have any updated information posted once we get them in.

Monday, October 15, 2012 |
 |
|
The 2012 ACHA Division II Showcase in Rockville, MD was a huge success as 27 teams across the nation competed against each other that normally would be difficult to do. There were plenty of great games to watch as the showcase provided the only elite hockey experience in the nation's capital since the NHL is locked out. The showcase was represented by 27 teams from 15 different states including Texas State who traveled 1560 miles to compete. Three teams went undefeated, Southern Illinois, Miami of Ohio, and Mid-Atlantic representative Rowan who also had one of the two shutouts in the tournament.

The event was very well executed and all teams enjoyed the experience. The tournament was very well recapped by Keith Bateman in an article that can be viewed HERE.

A New Name and Playoff Format are Adopted |
Posted By: Mid-Atlantic |
Friday, July 08, 2011 |
Beginning with the 2011-2012 ice hockey season, the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA) will be known as Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Hockey, or as The Mid-Atlantic.
The league will also adopt a new playoff format for both divisions within the Mid-Atlantic. The championship series will be known as the Mid-Atlantic MACH V and will feature the top five teams from each division competing intra-divisionally toward two division champions. Following the ACHA SouthEast Regionals, the Mid-Atlantic will host a championship game between the two division winners at a site that will be determined at a later date.
We are confident the name change will clarify any confusion created by two leagues within ACHA D2 ranks with the same acronym, while also allowing our league to retain its own unique identity. The Mid-Atlantic name continues the original tradition of excellence both on and off the ice.
